Will Doherty and incorporated
on September 14, 2000, with initial board directors
Will Doherty,
David Gudelunas, and
Roger Klorese.

Panel on Hollister Case

Online Policy Group Executive Director Will Doherty participated in
a panel on the
Hollister case,
which illustrated the tension between
online defamation and the right to operate anonymously on the Internet.
The panel, which took place at San Jose State University, was organized
by the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association. The moderator
was Elizabeth Weise of NLGJA and USA Today. Panelists
included Tracie Cone and Anna Marie dos Remedios of the
Hollister Pinnacle,
Will Doherty of the Online Policy Group and the Electronic
Frontier Foundation, and Jonathan Bernstein of the Anti-Defamation League, February 22, 2001.

a joint statement in response to the US Congress' passage
of legislation requiring blocking technology in all public schools
and libraries participating in certain federal programs in order
to galvanize opposition to mandatory blocking
technology and to promote educational methods for youth to
use the Internet safely and effectively, January 17, 2001
