Research: Online Service Provider Assessment Project: Methodology: Instant Messaging

If there is an instant messaging facility, check which access levels permit use of instant messaging by testing instant messages within the online service and external to the online service. For all of these instant message types that function, determine which words from category G, category H, category I, and category J word lists, from Appendix D: Word Lists, are filtered in the instant messages or result in notices of a violation for the various access levels and internal versus external types.

Check also if external Instant Messaging applications will work on the service, such as AOL Instant Messenger, available at http://www.aol.com/aim, and Y ahoo! Messenger, available at http://messenger.yahoo.com.
