Web / Software Programmer

The web / software programmer works on a range of technical projects to help improve and maintain the OPG website or software applications related to OPG goals.

This could include setting up and improving the a custom content management system that makes it possible for volunteers without HTML skills to update many pages on the site from a web-based form interface. Another project involves the custom programming for the Request Tracker task management application.

Some tasks require fairly advanced programming in a language like Python or Perl. There is some Javascript code on the site and strong HTML skills are also required for the position.

The web / software programmer also keeps the OPG site compliant with accessibility guidelines like those documented at CAST.

If you have experience with Flash programming or would like to learn any kind of graphics design, the OPG site could benefit from improved graphics as well. We are also interested in investigating XML conversion and content syndication through mechanisms like RSS.

Please email to volunteer at volunteer@onlinepolicy.org or to apply for an internship at intern@onlinepolicy.org

Thanks for your interest!
